Statement of Teaching
As a dance teacher, I hope to guide the students in my class through establishing the importance of technique while they develop their own style and artistic expression. I want to create an open environment for dancers to challenge themselves and convey their passion through movement while using my own passion to facilitate change. Through my own experiences, I hope to find a balance between self-directed teaching and learning. I will use my knowledge and experiences to help facilitate students to grow and to become authentic artists.
I hold myself accountable to create an environment for students to explore and grow as artists. I will establish a safe atmosphere for students to feel comfortable to take risks and challenge themselves as movers. I challenge myself to find balance between self-directed teaching and learning, and to constantly grow as a teacher, student, and being. While exploring with students, I simultaneously work to develop a strong voice of artistic expression to cater to the variety of students in class by using vocabulary, imagery, or a visual focus. I will convey passion through movement to consistently enliven the learning atmosphere.
